Hi All

I'm looking into upgrading my rig with Intel's 10th gen i5 CPU but would like to know how big is the difference between the 10600 and 10600K performance wise?

I don't plan to do any overclocking. I have a limited budget so can't really afford to by an extra CPU cooler for the 10600K.

Also is there any difference between the 10600K and 10600KF beside no Intel graphics support?

Solution
Both have the same Turbo Boost of 4.8Ghz. Assuming they also share the same 2-6 core Turbo Boost values. I'd expect little difference between the 10600 and 10600K. The issue is cooling. With the puny included cooler. The 10600 may not be able to maintain decent Turbo Boost frequencies. Requiring aftermarket coolers for sustainable Turbo Boost.

Unfortunately I can't find any detailed review of the i5-10600. The sites where quick to rush out K series reviews. They're taking their time on regular models.

As the 10600 seems to be selling above MSRP. I'd just get a Ryzen 3600x and a decent X570 motherboard. The CPU has good cooling and you'd get PCIe 4.0 for the price of a 10600 and cheapie motherboard. You can almost get a Ryzen 3700x for...
The 10600 will likely rigidly adhere to noticeably lower power budget of 65 W TDP, whereas the K model can scale/maintain higher clock speeds.

If you intend to get a discrete GPU, no need to pay $10-$15 extra for the K's integrated graphics over the KF, which lacks it. (often demand for the KF might invert the price structure, so, get whichever is less expensive)

Thanks for all the info. Will have to give it a think. I can wait till some i5 10600 reviews start showing up.

On another note what kind of after market cooler would you guys recommend for the i5 10600K?
I won't be overclocking so it doesn't have to be too expensive.

That's like the main reason to get the K SKU cpu...
The extra cost of the K cpu over the non-K
  • an aftermarket cooler
  • Z series mobo, for cpu overclocking, because it's still locked on H and B boards.
That's a significant waste - the boost speeds are the same this time around too.

"I can wait till some i5 10600 reviews start showing up."
Just look up 10600K reviews and look at the charts where it isn't overclocked, imagine it being a few fps lower across the board, and that'll be a 10600.
