Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz compatible with the intel e97379 001 fan?

Could anyone tell me whether the Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz (ivybridge) is compatible with the intel e97379 001 fan?

I read in the intel fan specifications that it's only compatible with Sandy Bridge processors. If this is the case, does it mean that the processor will either not work or overheat?

If you can fit it? Yes if you have the right bracket.
Will it be good? No, as that fan/cooler is rated for 73W and your CPU has a TDP of 77W.
