HP P6-2220t, MB= Foxconn 2ABF (H61 chipset), Windows 7, 6 GB 1600 RAM, 300w PSU, Radeon HD6670 Graphics (66w max TDP).
I was running an Intel Pentium G-640 but during Second Live and other games it was maxing out at 100% "usage" (Task Manager) and causing rough game play even on low setting.
The docs for this MB show " i5-3XXX up to 95W" as an upgrade option.
So I bought an i5-3570 "New-other" on Ebay and it seemed new, all sealed, Thermal paste on heatsink untouched etc. Box looked opened once.
Performance is just a little better than the G-640 as tested on NovaBench, Passmark, and Windows Experience index (6.7 to 7.0 only).
"Speccy" shows only 2 cores (should be 4).
Task Manager shows 2 cores only.
Intel Processor Diagnostic test = "PASS".
Intel Driver update utility found no driver lacking.
Foxconn offers no upgrade for MB and doesn't even list this on their site anyway. I talked to Foxconn CS and they said I had to go to HP. HP does not have an upgrade either.
AM I SOL ? Do I need to upgrade my MB and buy another copy of Win.7 ???
This was my fist attempt to upgrade a CPU and I am so disappointed. Any ideas? Thanks-Brian
ps the MB is also referenced as "Cupertino3-H61-uATX" and Foxconn ABF 3.10.
UEFI Vers.5.4.1.0 BIOS Ver. AMI 7.05 (5/2/2012)
