Hello, I want to upgrade my CPU as it's becoming more and more frequent the CPU reaching over 95% usage during high load times, mostly during gaming and software development sessions but first I wanted to check if it's worth the upgrade.

Currently I'm using a i5-4430 and my upgrade option is the Intel Core i7-4790/Intel Core i7-4790K.

Is it worth the upgrade? Also which would be better the K or the regular?

Thanks!

I generally recommend people away from AiO liquid coolers. They're more noisy and perform worse than cheaper tower coolers, the pumps eventually die, they sometimes leak, and are generally a bad idea when compared with tower heatsinks.

However, it'll be more than adequate for the i7.

Well the price for that i7-5775c it's like 30 USD++ it's it worth over the unlocked version of the i7-4790? I understand is a newer generation.

Well I would like to spend less than 400 USD in the CPU but the less the better since I'm also purchasing a case, RAM and power supply. So unless the gain is really good to spend extra 50~100 USD in the CPU instead of another component it's ok.

Current gig is Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard and GTX 970 card.

Go with the i7 4790k, switching over to skylake will be a waste of money in your case.
Also, what heatsink do you have?
