Intel Core I5-4590 or Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3

This is my build, I was tossing up between Cpus

Intel Core I5-4590 or Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3

In terms of use it'll be general (Microsoft windows programs), running adobe graphic design programs and not too much gaming but if I do max age of empires 3 or something oldish

Budget is around 1,200 but the cpu is my main concern

Xeon 1231 all the way, will edge out that particular i5 in almost all the games, due to slightly better core speeds but more importantly Hyperthreading. Also, in apps which can take advantage of parallel processing, the HTs of Xeon will be better, like in Adobe. And the build looks good to me.

Yup I agree with that Meteors said. I have a Xeon and it keeps up with my friends I7 4770 no problem. Best part is it was 80 bucks cheaper at the time as well. The 1231 V3 is just an i7 4770 with a slightly slower clock speeds(100mhz) and no integrated gpu.

I5 4590 vs E3-1231V3? Definitely E3-1231V3, if you can afford the price.
