Hello i wanted to buy intel Core i5-4690 Processor and Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 8GB 1866MHz but on http://ark.intel.com/products/80810/Intel-Core-i5-4690-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz i saw that it says Memory Types DDR3-1333/1600 so does that mean if i set 1866MHz ram on my Motherboard that my ram gona run 1600mhz anyways and not 1866mhz.

My Motherboard gona be Asus z97-c http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97C/specifications/
the board suports speed up to 3200 but if the processor don t suport it that means it will run on 1600mhz ???

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english hope u can help me.

Solution
intel cpu memory controller max stock speed is 1600 at 1.5v. you can use faster ram on intel cpu but if you burn out the built in memory controller in the cpu intel may not cover the cpu replacement. (if you push the memory controller above 1.5v or way to fast :) 1600 ram is 800 speed. 1800 speed is 900. so your only running the the newer ram 100megahertz over the stock speed.

Solution
1. Buy the i5-4690k model, not the locked one.
2. Stick to 1600Mhz RAM with CAS latency lower than 9-9-9-27; something like 1866Mhz with CAS 10 would perform nearly the same as the 1600Mhz, but it costs more, and there's always that chance that your memory controller can burn out (as smorizio stated.)
