Hey folks!

I am hoping somebody with more technical expertise with myself can quickly resolve an issue I am having. I was just about to order myself a "Core i5-4690K" for my band new gaming build when I noticed that Intel have recently released the "i5-5675C".

Now the reason I am stuck between these two processors is because currently I can't afford a decent graphics (yet) but I still want to be able to play games....

I noitced that the new i5 5675c has a better built in graphics chip but I am concerned it might not perform as quickly as the 4690k.

Also when I come to putting a graphics card into my PC will the 5675 limit the capability of it?

Thanks for reading!

you won't be able to play any decent game nowadays with just CPU embeded graphics.

and the difference from the 4690k to the 5675C (in terms of graphics) is not noticeable anywhere (maybe except while browsing and watching flash or something like that lol).

since you are going for gaming, i advise to go for the 4690k, but if you are not overclocking don't waste money on a "K" CPU, go instead for a 4670 or something down that road. That way, you save money on the CPU and on the motherboard, and that money can go to sum up and be used on the GPU.

Also, buying a CPU of that caliber, and then not having $$$ for a GPU, when you planing to build for gaming, is not really an option... Unless you will have the money in 1/2 months time.

Anyway, Haswell over Broadwell any time of the day when it comes to gaming.

Hey Blasc,

Thanks for your quick reply.

My issue is that I am looking to buy my GPU in maybe a month or two, so I am basically looking for something that'll play games (on there lowest setting) until I can afford my graphics card.

I am aware the HD4600 can play modern games on minimal settings but I have seen that the onboard graphics on the Intel Core i5-5675C are significantly better than the old HD4600 (so I have read)

I have seen some videos that show the capability of the hd4600 please see below

you are planning for the future, not for the present. therefore, planning for when you have the GPU, you should go with the 4670/4690/4690K, because you are building with the GPU in mind.

So, you shouldn't think on what is better for the next 2 months, but what will be better for the next years. And that option is to go with Haswell.

Btw, i'm saying this based on assumptions, since you haven't told us what is will be the main purpose of the PC. And in case of gaming, what games it will be for.

Also, what GPU will you buy? (And put the complete specs of the build so it is easier to help 😉 )

Hey,

Thanks again Blasc, I will get myself a 4690K. In regards to the specs of the machine please see below
