Hello, I'm planning on building my own PC but is wondering which CPU to purchase. For rendering, which one would be better? Intel Core i7 2600k vs Core i7 3770k? oh and for over-clocking too?

for rendering, either cpu will be okay. get lots of ram as well. :) although, at the same clockrate, the 3770k is slightly faster than 2600k due to architectural improvements and other minor tweaks.
for overclocking, 2600k will be better as it tends to run cooler than 3770k at high oc. 3770k is built in a way that temps and power use ramps up fast after a certain threshold. check out this article on 3770k oc

Well I'll be using programs like AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Photoshop, and all those great microsoft office stuff. Not too much on gaming and video editing or anything like that.

If the budget allows, pairing the Core i7-2600K with a GTX 570 would do very nicely for your build, especially since the 2600K and 570 both got price cuts recently, and as amuffin said, the CUDA acceleration from the 570 would be nice.

The budget is anywhere from 1500-3000$ but with 2 monitors and keyboard and mouse and all the other good stuff included in there. I'm not very good with this building thing...I would totally just buy the iMac 27" with some upgrades if wasn't for I will have to boot camp it. TT-TT

Building a computer isn't that hard. That said ibuypower is reputable enough as far as i know. Just remember that using a boutique website like that will, of course, increase the overall price of the build slightly.

and another quick question: Do you just add up all the voltage from everything you want then match a power thing to it? does it have to be exact? and is the overclocking just based on the voltage and the cooling?
...I'm so confused can you tell...?
