Hello, i have a question.... Intel core i7 3770k 3.5 GHZ stock, Overclocked to 4.4 GHZ but in CPU it shows 1.7 GHZ but under load its my 4.4 GHZ how do i keep it on 4.4 GHZ all the time?
If you REALLY want to do that, there are two ways. Disable SpeedStep or just use the High Performance power profile in Windows (what I recommend). Control Panel -> Power Options and select High Performance. That way you can put it back to Balanced to let it clock back down when you're not actually using the system.
worked amazing.. thank you very much. only reason im doin that is because i know i have the cooling to do it my cpu at 4.4 ghz goes between 37c and 40c when its under load... those are good temps right?
lol
yea im testing it right now when im playing games cpu-z says its at 4.4ghz while playing and doesnt fluxuiate. so i appreciate the answer helped me alot
and plus in my bios my asus motherboard wont let me overclock any higher so im pretty sure thats a safeguard put into place because of my voltage/heat hardware and ram speed do you agree? because i went up one more and my comp just keeps restarting if i do that so i think its a safeguard can u confirm this?
Nah, I doubt that it's a safeguard. I've never heard of anything like that anyway. That IS a bit strange though because it shouldn't really do that if you're giving enough voltage and the RAM is set right.
well i had everything on automatic and i would just go up by 1 in my bios until i couldnt anymore because it woould just restart and say overclock did not work and then when that happend i just went down by 1 and let windows start up do you get what im saying?
awesome dude. well im pretty sure 4.4 ghz is fine with me i dont feel like messing with them manually not sure how to do that and dont want to damage my hardware. i really appreciate your help thanks again!!!
Somehow I like intel "speed step" or amd "cool and quiet"...
It save power and reduce the heat when comp is idle or just do simple task like browsing/watching movies/music.... (It doesn't need that much raw power for that kind of task)
and it will automatically reach max O.C-ed speed when needed.......
well i wanted to do it because even when i was playing games and recording it wouldnt hit the peak 4.4 ghz but now using the high performance when i play games CPU-Z shows the core speed at 4.4ghz which i like/need when gaming/recording.
they say no it cant be done bollocks you can so upgrade the cpu in a laptop its more that people dont want to do it as its a lot of work taking laptops apart . its as simple as upgrading the cpu in a desk top .
