Intel Core i7-4790K or Intel Core i5-6600K for gaming and some video editing?

Hey, I was wondering what CPU to get for a completely new build. I'm not sure what CPU to get. I'm going to be doing a lot of gaming with my PC. I currently have a GTX 970 in my system and I will be transferring that to my new build. I was thinking about getting the i7 because it's more powerful but I also thought that the i5 would be more future-proof and would allow me to use DDR4 RAM.

Solution
Right now it makes little or no difference for gaming. That may change in the future as newer games optimize for the newer i5, but it may not. With either CPU, your performance will be almost entirely limited by the GTX 970. DDR4 won't make much/any difference either.
Personally, I would prefer the newer system. I would look for something compatible with the new very fast m.2 SSDs.

oth do support M.2 SSDs, but you'd be best off getting the newer system, even if it costs a bit more. The various improvements between architecture changes ensure a smotther experience.
