Hi I just bought my Alienware MX18 laptop it just came and its processor normally runs at 2.70GHz but on turbo boost it can run at 3.70GHz, and when i turned it on (i had an old laptop with it and it had it on already when i turned it on) there was no turbo boost icon or program, so i downloaded it from the website and it still doesn't do anything it just says energy saver, so my question is do Alienware have something built in which makes it only over-clock/turbo boost when it needs to or do i need to enable it somehow? and if so how?
Would someone please explain this to me as I am not brilliant with computers and just enjoy a good smooth gaming experience!
Please help!

are you running on battery? plug the laptop in and switch it to a performance power profile. when you do things like open programs it should jump up. I know my power saving profile on my asus N56JR disables turbo boost. running games it runs full turbo in performance mode. (I have a 4700HQ in my laptop).

try running a game or a single thread on prime 95 to see if it clocks up.

i cant use its proper battery pack right now as im in england and its an american alienware (you see my problem) so the plug dont fit so ive bout a plug adaptor and it is coming in the next few days, and my internet atm isnt brill so dont have any highclass games but i will test that on saturday when ill be able to
Thanks for the help ill say if it dosent work ECT

P.S wat over specs dose ur laptop have and what can it run at what FPS?

Specs Core I7 4700hq, 760m video card and a crucial m500 480 gig SSD.
I havent checked FPS but it can run crysis, i dont play many demanding games on it (yet) but LOL runs at 150FPS on max settings at full HD. i run emulators on my machine mostly that clock the CPU right up. try it when you get your plug.
