Hello all. Used Tom's a lot for answers, but finally have a question.

I just built a new computer. I am using the i7-6800k 3.40GHz CPU from Intel with 6 cores, with the MSI X99A GAMING PRO CARBON ATX Motherboard. I am hoping they are compatible.

My problem lies in I made a few errors when I first installed windows 10 home and had to reinstall it and it stopped for so long I halted it. Then I had to reinstall windows since it would not update. After that I had troubles - mostly with graphics card issues as it wouldn't install the latest drivers (MSI GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX 12 GTX 1060 GAMING X 6G 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready ATX Video Card). But, I was able to later.

The computer, designed especially for running 30+ clients of EverQuest for multiboxing. Is incredibly slow.

I think it's the CPU. My other computers with a 3.4GHz cpu run constantly at 3.6 (ish) speed. This CPU though bounces all over the place, and at times won't ever go above 0.20 speed, right now it's hanging out about 1.36.

Is this normal? What could be causing this to happen? Is the CPU bad? A connection? The motherboard?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Malgor

Thank you so much! I feel stupid now. There was a cover over the CPU that was preventing my coolmaster from cooling down the CPU. After I downloaded that program and saw that my temp was running WAY too high, I took it apart and discovered my error. Once I got that off - applied new paste, put the cooler back on and turned it back on it started running from 35-40c on each of the cores. Was able to load 20 clients of EQ up and run with no lag and the speed is staying about 3.4GHz now!

THANK YOU AGAIN!
