Intel Core i7 8700K high temps

So people of Tom's Hardware I have another issue. I have a i7 8700K put on a Asus STRIX z370E Gaming motherboard, cooled by a Corsair H110i GTX in the NZXT H440. ( I plan to buy a NZXT Kraken x62 and a NZXT 700i)

So the issue is I put it on 4.7GHz, disabled Asus's Multicore Enhancment and put the voltage on 1.25v adaptive mode. But the thing is, Aida 64 makes it go over 100C.

In gaming, it is 80 C or even more. What am I to do?

So far I reapplied thermal paste, used Arctic Cooling MX4.
 
Make sure you applied thermal paste correctly. Is you case well ventiled ?

Are you sure that you're checking CPU temperature and not a socket temperature?
If you reach 100C on your CPU your computer should turn off. Since 100C is maximal SAFE temperature for this CPU.
 
If your current cooling solution solution is not cutting it, try running at default clock speeds with MCE off, which should lower all core clock speeds (which you can verify with HWMonitor) down to 4.3 GHz, and but a single core at 4.7 GHz, so we can establish a baseline of cpu temp behavior...
 


Im not new at this, case is really well ventilated, before I had a AMD Phenom II x4 965BE @4.1 which runs hot, and it was kept in its 70's. And Im checking HW monitor package and core temps and they all go sky high.
 


Even then it acted a bit strange, by strange I mean hot.
 

Cleaned it all out, I reapplied it 2 times. Still the same temps

I recently got the 8700k as well myself. At the moment I'm using it with a Noctua NH-D15 where temps are alright, but nothing amazing. When I first ran the CPU at stock speeds I got surprised that it already reached 85-ish degrees. I'm currently running it at 4.5Ghz @ 1.095v and it's stable at around 65-70 degrees under full load.
It's a stupidly warm CPU with the stock TIM. Id say delid or find a way around it. I underclocked and undervolted myself to get the temperatures under control.

Seems that Silicone lottery has failed both of us then. I have no way to delid it, Im trash at soldering stuff, like honestly, trash. I did solder a few things together but this is way too expensive for me to play with.

The 8700K is a 95W chip so with your, more than capable, cooler, it should be waaaaaay cooler.
I have one on air (DRP3) and with 1.32V at 4.8GHz, it stay below the 70's.


About deliding, no need to solder!! It's a liquid metal tim that you apply with a little coton stick on the die and IHS.

It has helped my 8600K to go from 89°C (a 5.2GHz 1.36V) to 63°C on a dark rock pro 3. Yes, 26°C difference, I couldn't believe it!!

Does the thermal paste work instead of liquid metal? Or are there some specific liquid metal things?
 
To clarify, the liquid metal, is just a metal thermal paste developped for this purpose.

There are 2 things that makes new intel chips so hot:
- The distance between the die and IHS caused by the silicone join between the PCB and the IHS.
- Poor Intel TIM quality

You can simply delid, peal off the join and put a "normal" thermal paste and you will gain few degrees thanks to the smaller gap between the IHS and the Die.
Putting liquid metal like conductonaut or cool laboratory one, will improve the heat transfer and let you gain some degres again.
