I recently built a gaming pc a few months ago. specs are as follows:

CPU: Intel Core i7 9700k (no overclock)
GPU: Zotac RTX 2080 amp extreme (no overclock)
RAM: corsair rgb pro 2666mhz 16gb (no overclock)
Storage: Samsung 860 evo 500gb
MB: Asus z390-e Strix

My question is regarding if overclocking is worth it or not. I want my pc to be able to run any game on high settings for the next year to year in a half. Will installing another rtx 2080 in nvlink and overclocking the ram and CPU help out "much". Or will it only be beneficial in a small increment.
Another question I had was cooling efficiency, what temps should my CPU be at under heavy load while gaming.

It's not really worth it overclocking those already extremely powerful components. You could risk damaging them if something goes wrong. You could overclock the RAM though.

I was going to say with that setup you shouldn't feel the need to OC anything for a few years at least. I'd just use your system and when you feel it does need a boost then OC, but don't OC just for the sake of doing it.
