Intel Core i7 on a newly bought Omen 15 heats up to 75-80C during minor tasks (Opera browser open with a couple tabs, downloading a file in the background). CPU usage is at 10-15% Started using the laptop yesterday. Using the in-built Omen Command Center to track temperature. Is this normal? If not, what may be causing it?

Model: HP Omen 15 -dh000x
CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H

Laptop coolers are, of necessity small and relatively weak.
Possibly, your cooling airways are obstructed.
Possibly the laptop assembly process did not do a good job of mounting the cpu cooler.
Can you verify that the cooling fan/s are running?

They are definitely running! It was previously on Default mode, and I've switched it over to Comfort (made for lowering temperature).
There are three airways - two on the back, one on the side - none of which are or were obstructed. My laptop is standing on an elevated surface. Right now they're humming quite loudly. After 15 minutes of Comfort Mode, CPU temperature has lowered to 68-75C, but I'm still concerned because the load is relatively minor.
