This is usual thing for AMD, Intel and Nvidia, you wont throw away something that is still good, just not excellent. Let see if it arrives to market anytime soon, and at what price.

It's not even outrageous to imagine that the Core i9-10850K is built with subpar silicon that didn't make the cut for the Core i9-10900K

My personal view is that they're having so many wafers of the i9-10900k that isn't selling that they're releasing a cutdown version just to get them off their hands, rather than just cutting the price.
