intel cpu 3rd vs 4th gen

how big is the difference in i5 3rd gen 1055 and the haswel 4th gen 1050 cpus? Is it worth upgrading older mobo and cpu or?

From an i5-3570K to an i5-4690K is about a 10-20% difference. Not worth upgrading, that 3rd gen i5 is still plenty today.

EDIT: Going from an i3 to an i5 is a big difference, 3rd or 4th gen.

I'd say the upgrade will be worthwhile . Considering that you have an older i3.

Hello... there is a 1155 and 1150 sockets between the two... if you have a Ivory bridge or a Haswell CPU they have very similar #'s in performance. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/common_cpus.html But not worth buy a new MB for one.
