CPU Cooler: Deepcool GAMMAXX400 Cooler
Thermal Compound: Antec Silver 5 Thermal Compound.

Introduction here:
Had my new build this month (april) and I've noticed extremely high temperatures even after applying proper thermal compound and installing CPU cooler (Deepcool GAMMAXX400).

Even on highest temperatures, the heatsink hardly gets hot

I'm having some experience on overclocking (i5 2310 from 3.2 GHz Max Turbo to 3.5 GHz).

My motherboard (ASUS z270F) automatically sets vCore/CPU Core Voltage to 1.450v Adaptive on 4.8 GHz CPU OC. I've successfully reached 5 GHz OC but moderate CPU usage (over 50%) shoots temperatures straight to 100C. (using Core Temp)

At first I thought of switching to a watercooler. A while ago, saw CPU delidding and great temperature drops on YouTube and thought it'll be a good idea.

As I have absolutely no experience on delidding the CPU, any good guides on doing this?

First off I'd advise against any automatic program for your CPU voltage. Your better off using stock voltage then increasing the CPU speed and testing, then manually increase voltage as needed. Next I would buy a better aftermarket CPU cooler as the 7700K gets quite warm.

I delidded mine and temps dropped by 20C. The 7700k runs really hot at stock. I was getting 80C in BF1, and now it is around 60-65C. Totally worth it in my opinion.

Hi - could you tell me your method - any tools and cleaning solutions used?? Which paste?? Thanks in advance!!

Meh.... I don't get this whole delid thing..... But then I don't get this thing with AIO's and water cooling either.. Guess I am old school and stubborn.

Based on my personal experience my i7 7700K never ran hot, mine is right out of the box.

The only time I ever saw 80's was stress testing it in Prime 95..... At 4.8 GHz.... That was with the NH U12S.

In games it was in the 60's.... Normal use.

Now with the NH D15..... Well the temps are laughable..... 60's and low 70's running Prime 95 at 4.8 GHz for hours.
