Hi guys, I'm having a Intel Pentium D 3.00GHZ Processor which I have been using last five years. I worked without any problem but a week ago it had some strange problem.

Ok the CPU gets overheated when i start my PC early in morning and my PC gets shutdown automatically. When i touch CPU case it gets very hot. I couldn't even load my OS. It shutdowns within 10-20 sec. As said I start my PC early in morning freshly and within no time it gets overheated. Evey other thing/components on the motherboard remains cool as it should be but only the CPU gets overheated. Please help me I'm in trouble.

Here are my PC specs ( which was before this problem)

I will try your method but I want to know what are the possibility of such problem to take place. Also i wanna ask you that such problem do take place? I mean all of the sudden I start my PC freshly in morning and the in shutdowns without loading my OS within 10 sec. and then when I touch CPU Case near which my CPU is located it heats up so much as if i have been using it for 4 hours continously (which i had not) . Is there any possibility that my CPU is defected.

Also i wanna add that before shutting down within 10 sec. It does load my bios and the CPU's name is displayed i.e 'Processor : Intel (R) Pentium (R) 3.00GHz'
