Hello TomsHardware,

Today I was playing the new Call of Duty, Call of Duty Black Ops III. When I always play new games I like to keep my CPUID HWMonitor open on my second monitor to see how things are going. My Intel i7 4790k reached a whopping 90C, now is this safe? It wasn't staying at 90C for the hole time of playing it was staying around 80-85C. Can you please let me know if this is safe or not..

Thanks George.

I see you are running the H100i, those temps are not good for that processor nor that cooler.
Around 70C is where you should like to be, even lower given the liquid cooler.

How long as it been since you replaced the thermal paste, have you cleaned out the radiator, what are your fan speeds?

That sounds like bad thermal paste to me, try looking at the paste and see if it is either dry or not making a good connection to the heatsink. Also you should check your rad, that might be clogged with dust. Or your fan speed might be too low to cool down the water.
