Intel CPU Lanes

If you have a 28 lane i7 CPU. What will happen if you put in 3 graphic cards that uses more than the 28 lanes?

I take it you are referring to the 6800k? It can run a single card at x16, dual cards at x8/x8, and triple cards at x8/x8/x8.

Yes I have the 6800K. But the question is what will happen if I put in more devices that uses more lanes then 28.

The post time made did help. I thought 3 graphic cards would run at 16×8×8

The chipset takes care of the rest, which happens to be up to 8 2.0 lanes, on X99.
