Intel CPU shortage in Sept. 2018 until Q1 2019

I've been seeing some serious shortages in Intel CPUs which is causing big price increases in the popular 8th Gen i5s and i7s. I've talked to my company's CPU PMs and this shortage will last in to Q1 of next year. Expect AMD Ryzen CPU prices to increase next as people switch over to AMD to fulfill the computer build needs.

It seems as one front clams down another flares up. It was SSDs and RAM just about 2 years ago, then GPUs last year, and now CPUs this year. Makes you wonder what is next.

Solution
We have multi-million dollar contract with a large vendor so while there are shortages for our vendor, we were place on priority due to our volume so it's a concern but they will short there retail arm before us at this point, of course that could change.

What type of company do you work for?

They had better upgrade soon or wait until late next years. There is probably going to be limits on the number of CPUs that can be sold per order very soon if not already with the big distributors.

I work for a computer distributor, we sell to the retailers, SI, OEMs, consultats, Etailors... just not to the public.
