It makes sense to EOL these parts. The new LGA1200 platform supersedes these, and the i5-10600K ends up superior to the i7-8700K, at a lower price. Well, except you need the new mobo.

But you can still get 9th Gen Coffee Lake parts that again already overlap and supersede the 8th Gen parts, and they are able to run in the same socket / motherboards. I guess the only real issue would be if you wanted a 6-core/12-thread part instead of 8-core/8-thread?
