I see you have a 775. Tell me about your system, are you an overclocker?

Not an over clocker man, never been. Dont find the need. System has always been good enough for games and stuff. Im looking at the dothan and a Aopen board now as a upgrade option. The Aopen board will have to be the i915GA-HFS though which i dont think is avialable yet.

Is your 2.8 a 500 or 600 series? If its a 500 does it have a J in the model number?

Im guessing its a 500 series, i got it when the LGA775 was released. It hasnt got 64bit or anything like that. I dont see the advantages of 64bit cpu's. Maybe you guys can inlighten me

Right now there aren't many advantages but the 64 bit capability is there, and you're not paying extra for it so why not have it.
An athlon XP 2800+ costs $105 and the A64 2800+ is $124. I guess the improved architecture is worth the $19 so you basically get the 64 bit instructions for free.
Right now there's a 64 bit windows and a only a few 64 bit applications and games, but I think that now that the hardware is available widely the software will follow.
You can get 64 bit linux also.

Nothing is as easy as it looks

The reason that I asked about your CPU is because the 775's will OC with no problem. So im wondering if you wouldnt be better off getting a different MOBO that is capable of getting all the potential out of your current CPU. It will probably OC ti 3.5 on air and may go up to 3.8

Im happy with the board it is on. And did overclock it a bit to 3.2 no problem. Only thing is i caint change my memory timings on this board.
