Just got my new PC today and I discovered that the place I ordered from had substituted an Intel DP965LT for the MSI P965 Platinum that I originally ordered.

Needless to say, I'm a little angry. I realize that the Intel board should still work in my system, but I'm thinking it is a step down from the MSI. Does any one know of any good comparisons or reviews of these two boards?

I need to decide whether or not to just keep the intel board and bitch at the company until they refund the price difference or send the whole damn thing back.

Well the DP965LT is a fine board except that it will not OC and is extremely picky with its ram. Only 1.8v will do.

If you dont care to OC and have 1.8v ram, then you are ok. I was seriously considering this board a couple mos ago, but then I decided on the DS3.

Well crap. I bought some 2.2v RAM to put in it. Looks like I have to send the whole thing back.

Tried to call them about it today, but it looks like they have left early for the holiday. So basically I'm out of luck until Tuesday and then I get to wait another 2 weeks while we ship crap back and forth. They had better bend over backwards to make this right.

you can try it, but the DP965DS3 is probably the most picky mobo that I know of.

I would get a DS3 Rev3.3 or an ASUS P5B. That MSI isnt the best.

I went with the MSI because that is what Toms Hardware had in their mid range system build in that story they did a couple weeks ago.

I'll have to see what my options are when I call this place on Tuesday. If they knew they couldn't give me an MSI board, they could have checked with me prior to shipping to see if the Intel would be an acceptable substitute. I'll have a look at the DS3 or Asus.

I'm tempted to just cancel the whole thing and then order the correct parts from Newegg and build the whole thing myself.
