My computer basic specs are as follows:

CPU: Intel I7 990x (Stock DBX-B thermal solution Cooling)
MB: Intel Extreme X58 LGA 1366 DX58SO2
PS: Antec High Current Pro HCP-1200
Memory: Kingston HyperX KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX DDR3-1600 (6x4GB) CL9 w/ Kingston KHX Cooler
Case: IN WIN DESTINY-Extreme Series Ironclad (4 20mm fans 1 120mm fan)
HDD: 300GB WD VelociRaptor 10,000 rpm X2 (Raid 0)
OS: Win7 Pro 64bit
Display Adapter: X2 SLI eVGA GeForce GTX 460 SuperClocked 1 GB - GDDR5 SDRAM
ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channels PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card
Pioneer BDR-206DBK 12X SATA Blu-ray Internal Writer X2

I have just found what I think may be a problem, and I need some help working it out... I'm running 24g of 1600Mhz memory... My Mobo supports 1600Mhz+ memory. However, I'm running an I7 990X CPU, and I noted the specs indicate that the 990X only supports 24g of 1066Mhz memory!

Using the XMP 1600 profile, the computer seems to run fine... Are there hidden issues, or issues I am currently unaware of, with running 24g of 1600Mhz memory in my system, considering the published 1066Mhz memory limitation on the CPU?

I don't understand are you seeing a problem or just looking at the specs and asking if there is a problem. Yes the processor only supports 1066. Buuut using the bios to run the ram at 1600 will not be an issue at all this is why there is mem dividers and such when overclocking.

Thent

Thanks for the reply!

I'm concerned, because I read in another thread, that the CPU will self limit to using only one memory module if the memory speed exceeds the 1066 limit. Sounded a bit farfetched, but, I'm a novice builder, and I'm learning as I go, so I just wanted to get some more input. I'll admit it made no sense to me, but again, I'm a novice at this, and I know, being a novice I'm going to make some mistakes, but I'd like those mistakes to be as inexpensive as I can make them.
