Hey All,

I'm having trouble getting my dx79si to post. It's showing code E6 (or is that EB?)...

I didn't see anything I recognize in the code list in the manual, but I found it confusing to be honest....

I have the board out, with only cpu, ram and g.c installed....

I've swapped out ram, different slots etc... I don't think it's that, and the post codes go for a while before it stops on E6, so I think the cpu is fine... The graphics card, I don't know, but I hooked up all three outputs in turn... The monitor gets a message to turn on and show output, but nothing happens....

Anyone know what that code means?

Thanks

Turns out E6 error is listed in the manual.... It's just very difficult to read because a couple of other letters or numbers are attached to those values..... besides the "is it e6 or eb" confusion....

E6 is a failure of video card initialization during post..... That makes it hang there. Further testing found the graphics card was indeed dead.

This board has no onboard graphics.... I'm guessing a normal board would still post with a faulty gc....
