They're not directly comparable for an "equivalent"...

As far as core count (6/12), no iGP and similar(ish) boost clock speeds.... You'd be looking at probably an i5-10400F

However, that's paper specs only. In practice, there's not really a direct competitor for all tasks.

In some applications, sure. In gaming, pretty much bang on. Not in all workloads though.

Not really. The 9600k has faster single core performance but half the threads. Depending what you use if for it can be stronger or weaker. It will also cost more to buy a Z390 motherboard and decent cooler.

Even on gaming the diference between the Core i5 10400 and the Ryzen 5 3600 is really slow, specially if you run the intel chip with the stock speed memory and a B460 or H410 mobo.

The only way to make the intel chip a bit faster is using a Z490 mobo to be able to set an XMP profile.

And no matter what you do with the intel chip, the Ryzen 5 3600 gets ahead in every heavy load work you do.

And yes if they were at the same price, I would also get the Core i5 10600K

The 9600K is barely faster in single thread, but the 3600 is about 40% more powerful when all threads are used.
