Dump the employees and pump up the stock. This is why the board fired Gelsinger. Typical short term American “Jack Welch” line of thinking that has led to the demise of multiple industry greats.

How many old FABs does intel have that can't work for intel foundries because they can only do intel specific chips?!
Doesn't it make sense for them to scale down the old FABs so they can concentrate on making 18A for anybody that wants it?

This is my question, but seeing as they're getting rid of workers in Oregon it's safe to say it's not just DUV fab reductions.

What does the one have to do with the other?!?!
They could fire everybody and it would still not change how good or bad 18A will be.
But the fact that the old FABs can't do anything for the foundry business is in deed a fact.

There is a massive need for more semiconductor workers in the U.S. , this is the opposite of the CHIPS ACT which is to hire more and expand jobs.
