As for K9/K10, I also read the next generation socket is to have 1207 pins and will have ODMC for DDR2-667. It kind of makes me wonder, though, why they don't implement a full DDR2-800, because that's what is going to be available by 1H06... When the new chips debut.
As for Intel launches, they've been very disappointing... In the last 4 years, we've had two good years and what seems to be two bad ones:
<b>2002</b> 533Mhz FSB bump (with 2.26 and 2.53Ghz P4s)
<b>2003</b> 800Mhz FSB bump, P4Cs and i865 and i875 - this was great!
<b>2004</b> The prescott fiasco... :frown: i915, i925
<b>2005</b> The Smithfield launch... :frown: i945,i955
Smithfield isn't quite as ridiculous as prescott was, because, after all, it's a dual-core, low-cost solution that basically makes xeon rigs price-accessible, but it's nowhere near the great months after a lineup called "P4C" was introduced...
