News Intel Graphics Teams Up With Siru Innovations

Intel Graphics is teaming up with Siru Innovations, a company with roots dating back to the C64 demo scene in the 80s. Its core staff have also journeyed through the PC demo scene, Bitboys graphics hardware, plus ATI and Qualcomm graphics divisions.

So it was announced that Raja Koduri is being kicked out of the graphics team leadership promoted, and they are bringing in external support... right before a major product launch.
These are both pretty big red flags that the Arc GPUs are going to be off to a rocky start.

It could be that either something is severely late, yield problems, or that performance is well below expectations. My guess is that Intel finally realized that they are really bad at writing GPU drivers.

They likely gonna need the help.

They need Dedicated graphics to fight Nvidia & RDNA rumored in future AMD integrated graphics means intel's integrated will be incomparable.

Or intel is trying to get a piece of that arm/soc/mobile/smartphone gpu market...

That leads us nicely up to 2011 and the establishment of Siru Innovations as an enabler of next gen products and provider of SoC design skills and associated software development.
