I have an ultrabook,
i5 3rd generation 1.7 ghz-2.6ghz
4gb ram ( 1.7 shared for gpu)
128gb SSD

So people say that intel hd is too bad
Worse then anything stuff but for me it run pretty well(no like gtx ofcourse)
I played games like
Nfs mw12 on highest graphic - runs brilliantly well -0 lags
Assassins creed -3 mid graphic -no lags but rare framerate drop(bearable)
Far cry 3 (mid-high) run pretty good.
Sleeping dogs (highest graphics-lagless)

So is it really that bad for an occasional gamer or not so hardcore gamer

It is good for what it is might be the best way to put it.

AMD's APUs, though go up a few notches higher then Intels HD series, but Tom's chart isn't complete. Most of the people that come here aren't that interested in these products so they don't receive too much coverage.

HD4400, HD4600, HD5000, HH5100, HD5200 are the ones available now that aren't listed in detail. Other sites have comparisons, but not in the nice suite of games that Tom's maintains (which the HD series isn't capable of running sometimes)

HD7660D I think is still the top end from AMD and that is a decent mid-range performer.

it hard to say if i had to say wha the equal is it would be a nvidea 8800 gtx as i have run test vs my buddy old ass gpu and the intell hd pulls a head mostly due to newer drivers.

i mean lets be honest no one regularly test it after its launch.

I can tell you for a fact it plays games better then a ATI radion 3870 as i own that card also.
