Intel HD graphics 100% load?

I've got a strange issue occuring that seems to happen randomly and it's been getting worse and worse as time goes by. Out of nowhere, my iGPU on my i3 370m goes to about 100% load and even as I'm typing this, the GPU is so busy that it's lagging when I type. Sometimes it will randomly go away for a while but I can't watch youtube videos or watch a movie or scroll a freaking web page without it lagging immensely. Any ideas? Could it be overheating? The core and memory clock stay at about 370MHz/540MHz but I'm not sure if that's accurate seeing as it's the first gen HD graphics which don't have much support and are very, very slow. Also, I've applied Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra. Could it have dried up or something? the CPU never pasts 70c after 24hours of Prime 95.

That is very weird. Skype has never done that to me before, although I've never been crazy enough to rely on Intel graphics either. This is one of the reasons I will always use Radeon or GeForce. Intel is far too buggy.

that's one of the most useless replies I've read. It worked fine for the longest time. It's only 4 years old. Nothing has changed. There isn't any "new software" that I've been using. It's a 370m, it's not like I use this for more than the basics such as streaming youtube videos, doing school work and things like browsing the web for a new laptop anyway. There is no reason for HD graphics to be running fine at about 40% load on a 1080P video then randomly spike to 100% load even at 144P and still get a inconsistent 2-10FPS. I also should be able to scroll down a web page. :pfff:

I'm doing a full scan and 5 minutes in there's already 22 object detected. Wow. Avast really isn't good at getting rid of malware is it? I'll be keeping malwarebytes from now on to do occasional scans. Hopfully it fixes the issue though.

avast is about the best av out there.i would keep it.avast has detected 22 infections??? wow.let avast do its thing, then run malwarebytes.this does sound like a malware problem all right.when these scans are finished do post the logs so we can id some of this malware.here are a couple of other tools to use.post these logs as well. download and run junkware removal tool from bleeping computer.scan and post the log.then download and run adwcleaner from xplode.let it run and post that log as well.after all this download and run hijack this.do a scan only with hjt, dont fix anything.post the log.

let us know how your computer is working as well.and yes,i agree, that was a pretty useless post.

Sorry for late reply. Sorry, I meant malwarebytes has detected a grandtotal of 33 objects and it successfully removed them all. However, the problem still remains. Avast! detected nothing but I'm never getting rid of Avast!. It's amazing for just traditional viruses and trojans and the online firewall is amazing for free.

I've linked the problem to Skype. For some reason, when I'm running skype, occasionally the CPU will go to 25% load which is 100% load on one CPU thread of my 4 threads and when it does this, I get 2 windows processes, I believe the NT & Kernal process and WMI provider host, both use high CPU usage at the same time as well. This causes my GPU for some reason to spike at 80-100% load. If I force close skype in task manager, the problems all go away. Very strange eh? Skype is definitely the issue. I'll try to contact microsoft and talk to them about it.

Actually ANY other intel HD graphics works great. HD 2000, 2500, 3000 etc all work great, but the original "Intel HD Graphics" on the first gen i3/i5/i7 is pretty crappy and pretty buggy. Thanks you guys for your time and effort to help me! :)
