Intel HD graphics 4000 fails to recognize Acer 23" monitor

Hi,
I purchased three of this model of computer:

(Intel HD Graphics 4000)

However, it does not drive the 23" Acer LCD monitor that I have.

My neighbor, brought a small LCD monitor which works.....

I tested the 23" monitor on my i7 laptop (Intel HD Graphics 3000) and it works just fine.

What could be the reason for this?

When I say the 23" monitor does not work, I mean, the blue light just stays flickering, does not turn solid blue.....

On the Desktop, do you have Primary graphics set to onboard as primary

There is only one video adapter - on board Intel HD Graphics 4000

my fault, missed that, hmmm...interesting, will think about it and try and get back, does the monitor have more than 1 input port i.e. an HDMI and a DVI or a VGA? do you have to select via button or menu

Yes, the monitor has more than one input, HDMI(2) and VGA(1), however, when I move iot to the laptop it auto recognizes the VGA and works just fine, as soon as I plug it into the desktop, it goes into "flickering blue light", which, I am told is standby-mode

Is it maybe by default looking for VGA (just asking, have had monitors you had to manually set input via button or menu selection)?

Well, when I attach the VGA of it to a different computer, it works.....without any changes on my part........

Might be locked somehow to VGA output, will see what I can think of
