Intel i3-4130+ gtx 960 vs PS4

Well, the gtx 960 is a lot better than the HD 7870 form the ps4. In the other hand the ps4 has a 8 core cpu running at 1,6ghz and the i3 is a dual core running at 3,4ghz (not 100% sure). Since most of the games don´t use more than 2 cores and the i3 has a higher clock speed, I would say the pc would run the games at higher fps at a higher resolution.
I might be wrong tho, the ps4 was made for gaming and almost only gaming.

Yes, the GTX 960 and i3 4130 is better than the specs inside the PS4. However, that doesn't include blu ray player, wifi, etc. A build with these specs is going to cost you about twice as much as simply buying a PS4, and that is excluding games. Console games are cheaper than PC games, and have been for a while now. However, modding is fantastic, and while the PS4 colors are horrible, beaten by the Xbox One, there are fantastic color mods, and texture mods, and mods as big as DLC's on PC. Depending where you live, the total cost could be way more than twice of a PS4, so I'm just taking the average. Have to be realistic.

No, because PS4 offers free games every month, not crappy ones either. They also have sales very competetive to steam, however, way more frequent than steam as well. Both Microsoft and Sony has had this for years. Consoles currently beat PC prices when it comes to games.

540 euro is fine I guess, it will beat a PS4 by a pretty huge ammount. Go for it.

You've got humble bundle & bundle stars deals on PC though & for a first time PC gamer some if these are amazing value for money.
7 or 8 games every month for around $6.
I've built a massive collection of AAA older titles & good quality indie games using these.

I don't want to get into an argument. But I will tell you this. A higher resolution doesn't mean the game will look better. It's a common misonception. Contrast and color are what makes things appear sharp, not resolution, when comparing 900p to 1080p. I'll just leave it at that.

Your friend will be very happy with his/her new PC. Go for that, there are way too many benefits one can't deny are incredible, that the console don't offer.

Ok but I believe that it would look OK if someone had a 900p display not 1080p.. But also higher resolutions means more pixels which also mean better image quality. Others prefer high resolutions with AA and others just want better contrast and colours.

I am the 1st kind 😀

This is wrong. Please research.

-------------

If a game is lower resolution than 1080, on the PS4, it upscales. It doesn't send anything less than 1080 to the display, Xbox One does the same. You're just throwing things out there, without researching facts. Yes, upscaled 1080 is not the same as native 1080, but none the less, that depends on the scaler itself. There are 4k TV's that upscale 1080 content and looks worlds better than the original 1080 image. Obviously the scaler in the consoles isn't high end... If you want AA, get a PC, you don't have the options for any of those settings on consoles. Their goal is to hit 1080/30.
