Intel i3-6100 or AMD A10-7870k?

I'm confused how closed the price of this 2 cpus. But I don't know if I should get the i3 or the amd one. The amd has 8 cores and is a little bit expensive than the i3 6100. Should I still stick with the i3? I'm not actually familiar with amd cpu and how it performs. Which one is faster? Not only in games, also in performance overall? And isn't amd are like power eater?

Go with the i3. It's faster for most purposes and more modern. AMD's platforms are dead ends.

Performance wise, it depends on the software, but for the most part the i3 will be faster.

In terms of gaming, depends on if you have a graphics card or not. With graphics card, go with the i3

GET The i3 , for 2 resons :

1- The AMD is dead , the Skylake Mobo can take i5 ,i7 and the new coming Kabylake CPU .

2- The new 100 series chipset motherboard has more options , like M2 , USB 3.1 , better onboard sound , etc ..

tell me your budget for the motherbord so I choose a good one for you , and where do you buy from .

The i3. It's modern architecture also supports DDR4 memory.
