This is my first time building a PC. Yes I'm a PC building noob. The PC I'm building will mainly be used as a gaming PC. What is the best model of the Intel i3? Can I later on keep my mobo and other components and upgrade to an Intel i5 4690k? Can current games run on an i3, and if so on what settings? How long will it be till I need to upgrade to an i5.
Thanks for the help in advance!

Solution
You can play ANY game with the i3-4370 and a good gfx card. The i3 is almost as fast as a comparable speed i5. Intel has done wonders with Hyper Threading, and more and more games are making use of HT.
Tom's ranks the i3-4xxx processors in the 2nd tier for gaming: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html
and: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-3.html
Its obvious drawback; locked multiplier.

I've built several budget systems with i3's from the Sandy Bridge forward. None were lacking for gaming capabilities when matched with a fast card.

The i3-4370 is the fastest i3 Intel made for the latest socket (1150):http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i3/Intel-Core%20i3-4370.html
Yes, you can run an i3 now and upgrade to an i5 or i7 later. How long you will be able to remain happy with the i3 will depend on the games you play, the resolution you game at, the in game settings, single player or multiplayer, how busy the server is, i.e. how many other players there are, your tolerance for framerate and frame times, and maybe a few other things.

Well I plan on starting out with a an i3 then later upgrading to an i5 4690k so I mainly want to stick with an intel CPU. The games I would be playing would differ but could I play Minecraft, CSGO and in the future play Fallout 4, and Tom Clancys The Division. To buy the i5 4690k it will probably take 4-12 months to save up for it just depends how well work is.

Any recommendations for a good graphics card with i3 4370 that would work well later on with an i5 4690k?

As long as you are buying it for the future i5-1690K, your wallet will be your limitation. The i5 can keep up with any card, and the i3 won't be enough of a bottleneck to make a serious difference. My R9-290X is a fast card, but aging and hot running. The GTX 970 is nearly as fast and does it at 1/2 the watts and a whole lot less heat. If the 970 is in your budget and you game at 1080p, that would be my suggestion. Keep in mind... the AMD 300 series is due any day now. But they usually release the high end card first, followed by the lesser models as time passes. And they will demand top dollar for awhile, too.
