Intel i5-2400 or Intel i5-2500k???

Well obviously the intel i5-2500k but i have a hard choice because the 2400 comes with a good trustable motherboard by gigabyte while the 2500k comes from msi which isn't so good but i'll let you guys decide:

i will be overclocking with the msi board obviously but i cant with the 2400 on the gigabyte

You do realized those boards have completely different chipsets right? You need to decide what chipset you want before you decide on a motherboard.

Newegg has all kinds of motherboard combo's with those cpu's, why do you think you can only choose between 2 combo's?

Why can't you overclock the 2400 on the Gigabyte??

They have different chipsets yeah, I can't overclock the 2400 because you can't do much with it. you need the k series...

I could easily find a combo for less than $325, problem is you need to decide if your overclocking or not in order to make a choice of motherboard and cpu.

If your not overclocking, you don't need a z68 or p67, you could get h61 or h67.

Newegg has i5-2500 combo's as low as $250 with H61.

@geek, the problem is that those Motherboards dont 't have USB 3.0 which i've been paying close attention to.

Idk really, I'm not going to be overclocking but if i have components for it then why not do it? I wouldn't mind going for a 2400 if it was cheaper. And no i live no where near a microcenter.

I have a 2500k CPU with an ASrock Z68 Extreme 4 MB.

Personally, I would take the bundle with the 2500k CPU. It overclocks and is a Monster chip.

Like I said, it comes down to if you want to overclock or not. I mean unless your running 2 or more top of the line video cards then there is no reason to overclock it.

If you want to overclock and/or run multiple video cards, go with the 2500K and MSI P67.

That msi motherboard is $105 after the rebates. Really thanks for helpin but just tell me, msi one with 2500k or gigabyte with 2400

One does not buy an unwanted CPU or motherboard strictly because you can save $19 in a combo deal....

Order the Z68 or P67 MB you actually want, and then order the 2500k....
