Last night I put together my first computer build, the processor I am using is the Intel i5 4460 and its stock cooler

I switched the computer on for the first time and went into the BIOS to check everything was connected properly and change the boot priority and had a look at the CPU temperature and it around 40 to at times 49c before I had even installed windows. Is this normal?

I have looked on here because I thought it was a bit high and have seen people say it should be at around 30c when idling so I'm abit worried

like g1abhi said, it depends on your room temperature, if you live in tropic country and your room temperature is 30 then your cpu idle temperature should be around 40C

Max temperature for i5-4460 is 105C so it is fine dont worry... If it goes above 75C on load then you should get it lower, buy new cpu cooler etc. by that time, happy gaming or w/e you do on pc :)
