I'm about to build a new gaming pc for my birthday, and I really want to know which will get me more performance for the parts. Now, an i5 would be nice to have, but It would be too much when combined with the GTX 770 (ASUS GTX 770 to be exact 😉) so with that in mind, which config would be the better performer? As of now the AMD FX-6300 with the GTX 770 is actually cheaper than the i5-4690k and GTX 760, which is also another thing that has me leaning towards the FX-6300 and 770 config.

I will be playing games mostly like Battlefield 4, Skyrim, FPS's in general, Borderlands, Minecraft, League of Legends, and etc. So I would assume most of those are graphically intensive instead of CPU?

Anyways, all answers would be highly appreciated! I just would like to know ASAP as I really want to get my build finalized and ready to be bought and such.

Thanks again, Tom's hardware! 😀

Solution

Instead get an fx 8320 or an fx 6350 and a gtx 770. You would always be able to destroy any bottleneck by overclocking. Anyways, whats you're budget? I'll assemble for you a good build if you can tell me what your exact budget is??

Sorry for the time drop haha, went to sleep. 😛

Anyways, my general budget for this pc is somewhere around $800 to $900 dollars, $850 being the sweet spot. Also, I plan to overclock my FX-6300 to atleast somewhere between 4.3GHz to 4.5GHz, to remove any bottlenecking.

Assuming you don't need an os, here is a great build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cFBxxr
If you however need an OS: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Y87yHx

Thanks man! I don't need an OS, already have Windows 7 Home Premium, so that first build is perfect for me. And the fact that you included a disk drive AND the Hyper 212 EVO is amazing. Thanks so much dude! Best solution goes to you my friend. :)

And this would outperform both the amd builds, again assuming you don't need an OS: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/63KkHx

Always ready to help. :). Enjoy Gaming.
😉.

Also you might take a look at the intel build I posted. Though it costs a little more, it is worth the money. EDIT: Just go for the AMD build. There will be very less difference in performance. And this thing will help in more multi-threaded games and apps about to come. And I think you will achieve a stable overclock of 4.5 GHZ with the hyper 212 evo. But the intel build is good when you consider the upgrade path it has. Broadwell will be compatible with that mobo. Any one of those builds, you won't regret. That I can say confidently.

Thanks, I might just go with the Intel. It's a little bit more, but for the upgrade path and performance perks it has, combined with the GTX 770, will equal to insane performance. Thanks again mate! :)

Ok Your welcome and enjoy gaming.:)
