i recently built a gaming and rendering pc with an amd fx 8350 cpu which was having issues with heat so i ordered 2 more heat sinks but still had the same issue luckly i was able to have a replacement twice but the same issue happened so i got a refund
i know amd has issues with hot cpus but it was getting under my skin
so im looking at the intel i5 4690k but i have a couple of questions about the cpu and hope you guys can help me.. so im not sure if i should get the i5 4690k until i hear of new releases this year? but i read that you will need a different socket motherboard for the desktop processors..
i also want to know if the i5 4690k is good underload with the hyper evo 212 as my amd 8350 was way over the limit and ive tried everything to get the heat down but nothing worked..
i also ask is the i5 4690k gonna be good for many years to come in terms of gaming and overall
preformance im also looking at the gigabyte z97x-gaming 5 motherboard let me know if this motherboard is good im not planning to overclock at all but i want a reliable motherboard
im want to order my parts as soon as possible but the new processors are making me want to hold off but im tempted with the i5 any answers will be appreciated!

The 2500k has been pretty potent for the last 4yrs going on 5, I'm pretty sure the 4690k will be as well. If not overclocking there's no real need to get a k series. It makes a difference with the i7's because the devil's canyon 4790k is clocked higher out of the box than the non k. You could save around $30 and go with an i5 4590 if you thought you weren't going to overclock.

As for the 212 evo, it's not a bad cooler. It will easily handle i5's at load, even with a moderate overclock. If you don't have the cooler yet a cryorig h7 is around the same price, slightly better design but if you already have the 212 evo it will work well on an i5.

If you don't need to upgrade right away, skylake will probably be out toward the later half of...
It really depends on what you play, and the settings you require. I suspect my i5-4690K will last for years (I'm hoping 5-10), especially since I don't play the latest high-demand shooters. Even my old Q9450 could probably handle my current needs (especially overclocked), especially with an upgrade to a SSD and using something more current than a HD3850.

If you don't need to upgrade right away, skylake will probably be out toward the later half of this year sometime. It will be a different socket and require a different motherboard than a z97 1150 though. Depends how long you think it's worth it to wait, regardless of which you get (haswell or skylake) there's always going to be something better in the works. Nothing will be the most current or top of the line for long, just the nature of how fast things upgrade. The 4690k was the latest in the i5 lineup so I got it when I was ready to upgrade. If I'd upgraded sooner with an i5 3xxx series the 4670k and 4690k would have been what skylake is now, the next thing on the horizon to dethrone my cpu as the 'latest' but in reality wouldn't make a ton of difference. Little enough difference that there's no real point in people upgrading from a 2500k to 4690k, muck less a 3rd gen.
