Hello guys i want to ask something about this CPU's. I found a good price for i5 6600 and i think im going to buy it just i need to clear somerhing with this processors. What is the difference between i5-6600 Boxed and i5-6600 Tray and i5-6600k Boxed i5-6600k Tray. It seems there is no difference or what ? All starting from 3.5 Ghz to 3.9 in OC all are without heatsink and without stock cooler and there is big difference in price ?

Thanks a lot!

Well without the K you cant overclock. So If you got the money go for the 6600k i guess , because you anyways have to buy one.I dunno about boxed and tray.

The "Trays" are bulk shipments of many CPUs for use by system manufacturers. You definitely DO NOT want a tray!

Yogi

Boxes are retail units, Tray are normally for OEM. If you can get a single tray 6600k for less than a boxed 6600K, go for it, since the difference in the past was that boxed CPUs came with stock coolers while the trays have not. The boxed 6600K don't have a cooler, so get the less expensive of the 2.

I do not know if the boxed non-K version includes a cooler, if it does and you aren't planning on using a 3rd party cooler, use boxed.

That's my thinking on this, but it really depends on if the tray CPU is a single chip.

how do you mean cannot oc when there stands up to 3.9 Ghz when oced ?

There is no difference now they not include cooler neither heatsink for the 6th gen cpus

I am also interested in this. If both the K and non K version of the 6600 are running at stock with no OC is the performance exactly the same?

At the same speeds yes, performance will be the same. However, the K version has a Base Freq. of 3.5 vs 3.3 for the non-K. Intel Spec Comparison (Link)

Yogi

As Yogi said, the stock speeds for the K variants are higher than the non-K.

That makes absolutely no sense. i5-6600 and i5-6600K are identical with the exception one has an unlocked multiplier that lets you overclock it. That has nothing to do with stock speeds. They both boost to 3.9GHz. OP, if you can get a 6600 non K on the cheap then do it unless you really have a desire to overclock but I will say this the architecture on these new Intel CPU's is so good that you don't need to overclock and the difference is marginal at best. You are going to put more strain on your CPU for what? 1-4 more fps? Is that worth it? Not for me it isn't. GHz don't mean jack its the architecture in the chip. I have bought tray/box and they are all the same.

There are also feature differences between the 6600 and 6600K with the 6600K aimed squarely at enthusiasts. The non-K is rated to run significantly cooler (65 vs. 91c) so most people, and businesses, would only need the non-K versions. (There are security related features in the non-K version that are enabled, so businesses should really only be going for these)

6600 (non-K) tray CPUs have an MSRP $30 less than the 6600K (tray or box)

What you linked was TDP: Thermal Design Power (TDP) represents the average power, in watts, the processor dissipates when operating at Base Frequency with all cores active under an Intel-defined, high-complexity workload.

Intel didn't make a mistake you did. You clearly don't understand what TDP is. Intel clocks one at 200Mhz higher but it makes 0 difference in performance since they both boost to 3.9Ghz.I have to ask but how is it that you are an overclocking master and you don't even know one of the most basic things? You should be stripped of that badge for posting nonsense. The question he wants answered is if there is a difference in performance not on paper im sure he's already figured that out.

WTF? Can you READ?? I never said ANYTHING about TDP!! I said "the K version has a Base Freq. of 3.5 vs 3.3 for the non-K." Do you see any mention of TDP in that sentence?? Of course NOT!! I also posted a link to the Intel spec comparison to back up what I said and to provide any additional info that the OP might be interested in.

I didn't get the Overclocking Master badge by posting erroneous or extraneous, off topic information as you are. I post FACTS and back them up with research, where available. You should try that. You might learn something.

"At the same speeds yes, performance will be the same. However, the K version has a Base Freq. of 3.5 vs 3.3 for the non-K. Intel Spec"

What difference does the base frequency make in real world use? Absolutely none. What's the difference between boxed and tray? None. Exactly same CPU different channel. What's the difference between 6600 and 6600K? One is unlocked to overclock aside from that they both turbo to 3.9 stock and are identical. As someone asking a question this is what I like to see. I will give you one thing, you can google and post links that requires much knowledge. You posted an entire page of specs that were not asked for yet you speak of being off topic? Grandmaster google helpers in the house.

At least I know the difference between Frequency and TDP.

You never did explain why you brought up TDP?

Yogi

I have to admit I am impressed you know the difference between the number 3 and 4 and I brought up TDP because it was the first thing that popped up when I clicked you link.
