The title says it all. Actually I am building a PC for my Brother. I own a 8350 and i am thinking of getting an i5 6600 for my brother. Which of the 2 processors will be better in terms of rendering videos with adobe premiere and other video editing softwares?

Solution

Here are some comparisons between the FX 8350 and the i5 6600. In single threaded benchmarks the i5 absolutely destroys the FX 8350. In multithreaded benches it's a mixed bag, some the i5 pulls slightly...
single threaded performance the I5-6600 wipes the floor with the FX-8350 and even when you are able to use all the cores of the FX-8350 the I5-6600 will still out preform the FX. From tests i've run the i5-6600 is a better rendering computer when its paired with a good motherboard and decent amounts of RAM.

Will be using a 16 GB 2400 Mhz Corsair Vengeance RAM
MSI MOTHERBOARD H110M GAMING and a
Zotac GTX 1060 Amp Edition.....
Are you sure it will be equivalent or rather outperform the 8350 in terms of rendering?

Here are some comparisons between the FX 8350 and the i5 6600. In single threaded benchmarks the i5 absolutely destroys the FX 8350. In multithreaded benches it's a mixed bag, some the i5 pulls slightly ahead of the 8350, in some others the FX 8350 gets a slight lead, though probably not enough to really consider buying into such a dated platform unless your budget dictates you must. The only benchmark where the FX 8350 has any huge advantage over the i5 6600 is in 7Zip compression and decompression, where architecture is completely irrelevant and performance is dictated entirely by how many integer cores you throw at it.

Overall I'd still get the i5 6600 for the better single threaded performance when you need it and for being on a more modern platform with additional chipset features. I would recommend moving up to a B150 chipset or better if you can. H110 is really badly cut down and is missing a lot of the newer connectivity options that Skylake offers, so much so that you could argue that an AMD platform would offer similar or better connectivity.

im 100% sure it will preform just as well if not better in most cases than the FX-8350, the i5-6600 outperforms the 8350 in almost every aspect, the 8350 can beat the 6600 by a small margin in some cases but its rare.

Will the MSI B150m Mortar motherboard be a good option?

Thank You :)
