Intel i5 7500 VS Amd Ryzen 5 1600x

Hi all,

I am currently using an intel i5 7500 with my gefroce gtx 1080 and I am getting some cpu bottlenecking. I am wondering if the amd ryzen 5 1600x would be a good solution for my cpu bottleneck or should I go with a different approach?

I currently plan on gaming at 1080p @ 144hz. I know this is overkill but I couldnt justify not spending a few dollars more for a 1080 when the price gap was minimal. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

what game is it?
1600X may not have better FPS except for CPU heavy games like BF1
Budget?
CPU will be probably the factor.

It depends. The 1600X can be OC'd, so it would be of better value to you in some cases (the extra 2 cores/4 threads is nice if you want to stream). While the i5 will probably have better max FPS, in some titles such as project cars the 1600X has FAR better minimum FPS.

if I were in your boat I would just get a new intel CPU that would fit in your current system.. IF you were building a new system then I would suggest a new Ryzen platform..
