I have an old i5-760 im running it for almost everyday since 2010 i wanted to oc it, i have a stock cooler and I haven’t change the thermal compound since then. What would you recommend to do first? Should I buy a new cooler or just change my thermal compound to avoid the consequences of ocing. I have an asus p7h55m motherboard

I wouldn't bother overclocking it. You won't get far on the stock cooler and a better cooler would cost close to a CPU upgrade that would merit much more performance

I would consider upgrading to a compatable I7 like one of the below:

Intel Core i7-870 $30

Intel Core I7 860 $29

Wym? The i7 860 is around $30 while the next gen 2600 is around $60 both used.

These cpus are really old and not made anymore. New prices are old stock with inflated value.
Well, the last time i saw in the internet the 2500 cost around php4000 but the i5 760 costed around php6000. Php=Philippines currency. Thank for the help! Just curious😊
