So IDK why my cpu is so hot, I use MSI afterburner and I'm playing assassin's creed 3 at very high and high settings, no TXAA cause can't do TXAA in anti-aliasing cause temperature will go so much higher. I'm using the fan that just comes with the cpu, I tried getting the fan again and re applying the thermal paste and then putting it back on, nothing changed temp is still on 90-95C with 50-70% CPU usage, it even goes to 98C and I'm in idle right now writing this and my temperature is on 81C. Please help, what maybe the causes of these? please state as many factors as you can regarding with my problem. I use MSI afterburner. Also I'm not putting my closing case on, I have an electric fan facing on my system unit and I have no extra fans on the case cause I haven't got a new case yet. I have a GTX 1050 Ti gaming x with 6 pin and my mobo is P8H61-M LE with 4 GB kingston ram at 1333mhz. I'm providing as much information as I can.

PLEASE HELP.

Does the PSU has nothing to do with it? I don't really know cause btw I've got my monitor connected to cheap avr but my system unit is just directly plugged, not connected to AVR cause my AVR is a cheap one and I have a silverstone 500W strider essential PSU.

Solution
Even though this is a marathon thread, I just want to add something: if you load temps are in the 90s with ANY CPU cooler under any operating conditions (gaming, encoding, etc) then

1. Something wrong with your cooler. Fan, pump, etc is not working

2. Thermal paste was done incorrectly

3. Mount was done incorrectly

4. Overclocking

Don't use idle temps for CPU. Load temps are what matters.
What kind of Cooler are you using? And how much Thermal? You should typically only use about a pea sized dot, and then after it's on there, just lay the cooler on top and just tighten it down, no spreading at all. Another thing is making sure your fan is running and in the right spot on the motherboard, and a PSU won't be the issue. Just make sure everything is snug while you put it on there as well. not overly tight, it isn't a car. Just tight enough.

I only have the fan that comes with it. Just an intel cpu fan. And yes I've done what you've said trust me but nothing changed.

Alright, so you got a stock cooler. I would stay off of it the most you can for now. And if you don't want to go water cooled, I would recommend this cooler. As it's one of the best air cooled coolers on the market. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099. Did you pick up the CPU and Cooler from something like ebay? or anything? Could be the wrong cooler for the CPU.

It's actually a used i7-2600 with a mobo, and yes the fan comes with it. How would I know that it's a wrong cooler? Is it just with the cooler? not on the CPU itself? cause I still got 1 month warranty from where I got it, if it's the CPU problem then please tell me if it's possible that it is.

Also I can't find a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with an EVO here, only one without EVO (Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED Turbo CPU Cooler). Will it still be good? and it cost too much, cost like 50$ here.

I suspect your fan might be the issue. Best way to check is to check the RPM of the fan. It is probably a very old fan. Maybe your CPU fan is plugged into the wrong socket and it is spinning slower than it should.

Another thing you can try is to see what RPM does you intel FAN spin at. If you say your temp is 80C at idle then go and look in the BIOS to see temps and RPM (if available). You can use MSI afterburner too.
The a 2600 i5 fan should be over 2000 RPM under load.

Hope this helps.

ps: If tinkering fails and the fan is plugged into the CPU fan slot maybe buying a replacement fan is not a bad idea. I recently bought the CoolerMaster X Dream i117 for a system with a i5 8600k in it, and it copes with temperatures very well under load. Amazingly actually compared to how cheap it is (mine was like 11$). I have seen thermal paste going for much more money than this fan and it comes with its own paste. Must just make sure that fan works on your socket before buying, but that's where I would start.

Please look at the pictures in the link I provided, it displays the FAN RPM and also other info with my system unit on it.

I don't really know but the fan causes weird sounds, in a second there's like a sound like a racing car but not too loud, sometimes the sound is loud then in a split second, there's only low sounds.

Which fan are you talking about? heatsink or case fan? How i'm i surpossed to know without seeing your config. IF your pc came with the stock cooler, simply replace it to see if temps drop.

I don't have a case fan but I have my case open having an electric fan facing on it but still 80C on idle. Here are the writings on the CPU FAN

This is retarded! What case do you have? People have already told you to replace the heatsink. So go change it!! FFS. Also if your case has space for a fan. Fit one! Otherwise, stop wasting our time.

Well easy to say, no money yet, I'm just finding as many answers as I can while I can't buy one for now. Don't worry I won't fight back with words :) I don't really wanna mess with people who are not loved that much. Don't worry I'll still love you even with that attitude of yours lmao.

We gave you the answer, it was simple. new cpu cooler and case fan. no need to keep asking for answers when you have the answer. I'm loved very much actually. You are just a retard who has a ghetto setup with a open case and room fan blowing onto it. I doubt you get much love without paying for it. Is that why you can't afford a case fan? Spent it
trying obtaining love?? :) Anyway you have your answer to your problem. REPLACE THE CPU HEATSINK AND ADD A CASE FAN! Once you have the cash to. Good day.

Woah woah calm down, chill. It's the attitude that matters in the end. No worries nothing personal, don't really wanna mess with people who are obviously not loved and in denial. Well thanks for your answer that actually has been the answer of many but still you're there to repeat it, redundant, but yes, I'm a good and optimistic man so I'll just say thanks for reminding me lmao. Btw don't do capslock, kinda obvious.

It's the right cooler; check that all 4 pins are fully locked in place. Based on the temperatures that you get at idle the heatsink doesn't make full contact or you applied too much or too little thermal paste.

i own the same chip on a dell. those where considered "normal" temps. i changed the board and got a hyper 212 with a noctura 120mm fan. now my temps are 59c at full gaming load. Enermax sells an alternate to the 212 and is constructed a little lighter than the 212. they are about the same price.

81°C at idle or low utilization is not normal.

Should I get a new board too? or just a cooler? what kind of 212 BTW, is it the one with only 1 fan or 2 fans?
