I'm building a PC that will be future proof. (I squeezed 10 years out of my last PC- a 774 socket Athlon 64-LOL). If you bought an i7-4770K CPU, would you run it with the stock fan for a couple of years first or overclock it straight away with the EVO12 cooling fan?

Any reasons/opinions for/against appreciated.

(FYI also buying 16GB 2400DDR3- so later 32GB and a GTX 780 Graphics to SLI with another in the future)

Solution
3rd option is to get new cooler and run at stock clock. That would be best for CPU lifetime.
Well OC is nice thing, but question is always do you need that OC? Some people OC just for OC to have that extra 500 - 1000 Mhz and maybe wont use it 90% of time. Most games don't take cpu to 100% and are much sooner bottlenecked by gpu.

OC void warranty, not that they can prove you OC, but generally OC is more risky so suggestion is to try your stock speed if you will feel it's too slow try OC.

But getting new cooler is always better than stock one because even at stock speed CPU at load can run really hot with stock cooler.

Solution
mmmm I like that idea: running a super cooler on the CPU at stock for a few years then just cranking it up when it gets sluggish.

Any suggestions other than the EVO 212, I was recommened that as a good one for the 4770K

It should be good cooler. It probably have one of best price/power ratio. It's ofc not best, one of best air coolers are from noctua but their price is double or more of evo 212. If you do not plan some high OC it should do.
