From all reviews thus far it looks like the i7-7700k and i7-6700k are indistinguishable when run at the same clock speed. The 7700k does have the advantage of a guaranteed 4.5Ghz boost clock, though a few reviewers managed 5Ghz out of it. Reviews of retail processors that were sent as samples was somewhat less good.
For the majority of contemporary games those fast cores will come in handy.
The 5820k or 6800k don't offer much in my opinion. You get the extra cores, but with less potential overclock, but not the all the extra PCIe lanes. 5830k or 6850k is a good choice if you plan on a lot of GPUs and/or expansion cards and really need the quad channel memory. But they are more power hungry, so cooling is a factor when it comes to overclocking.
200 series motherboards offer some more features as standard, but a few out there are neat, with up to 3 M.2 slots. Looks like they are all competing for the LED lighting effects and, on a few boards, lots of onboard fan control.
