Hello, I´m trying to find the best solution for video editing and rendering. As a novice I´m slightly (or a lot) confused. Would like to know is i7 620m suitable for this purpose? Is i7 720qm much better for this as I have red somwhere? Other issue is that I´m thinking about NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M. Is it good enough?
Thank you for the help on this.

Hello and welcome to the forums :)
i7 720QM would be better in multi threaded apps/games,whereas i7 620M is better for non-multi thread apps/games.
And GT 330M is a mid-range laptop card which can handle new games on medium-low settings

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

All the components that u list are portables, so, I will assume that u are looking for a laptop right?

The i7-720qm is much better and performs very well against the i7-620m. Like Maziar says the GT 330M is a mid-range GPU that could be not enough for ur requirements. Another option is build the laptop yourself from site like Falcon Northwest and Sagernotebook

You´re right. I´m thinking about laptop. What GPU you suggest?
Thank´s

Get the i7 720, as it's a true quad-core capable of 8 threads at once, whereas the 620 is a dual-core that can handle 4 threads at a time. In terms of video editing and rendering, the CPU matters much more than the video card, as most editing software uses exclusively the CPU for these tasks. The ones that support video card acceleration often just support the high-end nVidia and ATI workstation cards. A lot of RAM, a big hard drive, and a high-res screen are also important for video work. Forget about those $4000+ gaming laptops; instead, look at this page on newegg with all their i7 laptops:

Then there's this ASUS model with an i7 720, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, a full 1080p screen, and a GeForce 360:

It looks really, really good for $1200.

Yeah that looks good too,but for the same price the OP can get the Sager one with a 5870M which is more powerful than a GT 360M

What do you think about this one:
Alienware M15x: i7-720QM; 6 MB cache; DDR3 1333MHz 4096MB; 500GB 7200rpm; GeForce GTX260M 1GB; res 1900:900.
1600€

was looking around. not sure if 5850 is GDDR5 or not in M15. If not then possibly 260GTX looks better option (despite the price tag)
