Intel I7 6700K 8M Skylake 4.0GHz - Compatibility

Hello everyone,

I would like to know if this processor is compatible with my current configuration:

MB ASUS ROG EXTREME RANGER VII Z97 Chipset
I7 4790K

And This i7 6700K would be much higher than my i7 4790K?

I noted also that this processor supports DDR4 memory, if I change my processor for that I will be able to replace my memories DDR3 for DDR4? This would be compatible with my motherboard?

no the 6700K is not compatible with you motherboard. you need an socket 1151 (100 series chipset) you have a socket 1150 (90/80 series chipset) based solution. You have the best CPU your chipset allows BTW.

You'd need a new motherboard and ram to upgrade to i7-6700k.

While skylake (6th gen Core) brings a lot of improvements, it isn't worth the cost of a new cpu, mobo, and ram. Your i7-4790K should do you fine for a while, especially if your primary use is gaming.
